Non-Sewing Positions
(Please note: These positions are on a volunteer basis; we have no paid staff.)

Fundraising Coordinator
(Board position, 2-year term, Ottawa)

Looking for an opportunity in which your contribution will have a direct impact on the bottom line? As our Fundraising Coordinator you will create our fundraising strategies, and plan and execute a variety of fundraising initiatives that will help sustain VQC's mission. Superior oral and written communication skills are required, as are good interpersonal skills and experience in promoting events. This position requires approximately 12 hours of effort monthly. Duties can be performed from home although there is a requirement to attend monthly Board meetings. Public Relations Officer
(2-year term, Ottawa)

Working as part of our Communications team, you will apply your talents to seeking out opportunities that will increase public and corporate awareness of VQC's mission, create and maintain media contact lists, and prepare and distribute written information to the media. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as is the ability to communicate via the Internet. Knowledge of how to use social media would be an asset. The position reports to the Communications Coordinator and duties can be performed from home. The workload may be up to 12 hours monthly. Administrative Assistant – Website
(2-year term, Ottawa)

VQC is seeking a website specialist who can create and/or edit web pages. This individual will oversee the content of our website, prepare and edit web pages using provided text, and troubleshoot website problems. General knowledge of website creation is required, as is experience with HTML coding and using cascading style sheets. Good proofreading and editing skills (in English) are also required. The position reports to the VQC Webmaster and the work involved can be up to 10 hours monthly. Duties can be performed from home. Administrative Assistant – Communications
(2-year term, Ottawa)

VQC requires the services of an enthusiastic individual to work to assist in the preparation of communications materials. Responsibilities include gathering information, editing and proofreading text, and assisting in the design and preparation of communications materials such as leaflets and brochures. Effective writing skills in English and excellent proofreading skills are required. The position reports to the Communications Coordinator and involves approximately 10 hours of effort monthly. Delivery of quilts in the Ottawa/Gatineau area

We are especially in need of individuals to hand deliver quilts in the Gatineau area. Those wishing to help with this work must have training in pastoral care, palliative care or counseling.

General Volunteers

Would love to get involved but only have limited time available? VQC has a variety of opportunities throughout the year that can support your schedule. Whether it be making phone calls, selling raffle tickets, or helping out with specific fundraising events, your contribution is guaranteed to be appreciated.


Sewing Positions

So you've made quilts for just about everyone you can think of. Now's the time to start making quilts for those you may never meet but who will truly treasure the end result of your time and efforts.

New to quilting? All you need is the desire to learn, some basic sewing skills and we'll take care of the rest.
