Moncton

The Moncton Branch of Victoria’s Quilts Canada was established in 2007. We currently have about 30 members and serve a 100 km radius of Greater Moncton. We have a network that delivers quilts to cancer patients in our area, and we also mail to addresses in New Brunswick not covered by other branches. We gift approximately 350 quilts per year.

We do fundraising and awareness at local craft and quilt fairs.  We purchase flannel backing and batting, and are fortunate to receive fabric donations from individuals’ ‘stash’ and enjoy generous support from local quilt shops. We usually meet once per month to bind quilts, cut and put kits together, iron, etc.   Between meetings, our network of volunteers sew quilt tops, hand bind, cut kits and quilt.

New members or any skill level are always welcome.

Job Posting

Moncton Branch makes over 300 quilts annually for people living with cancer in their region of New Brunswick.  They hold Sew Days once a month, where volunteers come together to make quilts and socialize.  In advance of the sew day, volunteers make kits, consisting of a pattern and the appropriate amounts of coordinating fabric, so volunteers can make (or at least start)  these kits on a Sew Day.  Non-sewers are also welcome for cutting, pressing, etc.

Moncton Branch therefore would like to invite volunteers for the following roles.

Long Armers: – whatever you can do is appreciated: 1 a week, 1 a month, anything will help.  We provide tops, batt and backing.

Sewers – anyone who would like to help out on sew days (once a month) or work on kits at home, we have a supply.

Non-Sewers – anyone who would like to help out at the monthly sew day at the Fabric Cupboard in Moncton, we  have cutting and pressing and just a nice social time.

For more information please contact the Moncton Branch.
